Modernisme is one of the most, if not the most, characteristic architectural styles of Barcelona. While Gaudí may be its most famous architect, is certainly not the only one: Domènech I Muntaner, Puig I Cadafalch and many more will make you rediscover the city with new eyes.
Metro: Sant Pau/Dos de Maig (L5) Bus: 50, 51, 117 // This great hospital complex, designed by Domènech i Montaner, was built in the early 20th century. The Hospital of Santa Creu was founded in 1401 in the Raval district and was the city’s main hospital for more than 400 years.
Metro: Lesseps (L3), Vallcarca (L3) Bus: 24, 92 Barcelona Bus Turístic: Park Güell // In 1900, Güell sought Gaudí’s help in designing a garden city on land in the north of Barcelona. In 1922, the city council purchased the complex and tourned it into a public park. In 1984 it was declared a Unesco World Heritage Site

This is partly because of its unique architecture, created by the genius Antoni Gaudí.
Metro: Diagonal (L3, L4) Bus: 7, 16, 17, 22, 24, V17 FGC: Provença (L6, L7) Barcelona Bus Turístic: Passeig de Gràcia – La Pedrera // La Pedrera, Gaudi’s works, has an outstanding undulating façade which evokes incredible stone waves. Originally designed as a residential block, today part of the building is a cultural center.

Train: RENFE (Passeig de Gràcia station) and FGC (Provença station) Barcelona Bus Turístic: Passeig de Gràcia-Casa Batlló // Casa Batlló, built between 1904 and 1906 in the heart of the city, is the most emblematic work of the brilliant Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí.
Metro : Liceu (L3), Drassanes (L3) Bus : 14, 59, 91 // This Gaudí landmark is defined by its majestic air which is expressed in its façade and large drawing room with its domed roof which lets in natural light. Its rooftop contains 20 chimneys with cowls covered in multicoloured ceramics.
