My return to sea in the Coast Guard came in the form of recommissioning unit CGC Morgenthau (WHEC-722, this shot of her steaming under the Golden Gate bridge is from 2007) in late 1990. In 1989, she was decommissioned to undergo a major mid-life renovation, at then-Todd Shipyards in Seattle. Upon recommissioning in 1991, she resumed her missions in the Pacific Ocean from her then-homeport (now Honolulu, ironically enough!) of Alameda, CA, where I left her in the spring of 1993.
