It was October 1971, the month Marvel Comics decided to jump their prices from the still-new $0.15 per issue to $0.25 per issue, doubling the page length in the process. This put a big strain on the creators, and the approach was dropped before the next months' books rolled out, but in most cases it led to stunningly great single issues of Marvel's flagship titles. This Thor story, drawn by John Buscema, is one of his all-time greats.
