Peter the Great (1672-1725), also called Peter I and Pyotr Alexeyevich Romanov, Tsar and Autocrat of all the Russias. Crowned in 1682, Tsar Peter instituted reforms which made Russia a global power.
Grand Duchess ANNA PETROVNA (1708-1728) daughter of PETER THE GREAT and CATHERINE I. Anna died at age 20 in March of 1728, shortly after giving birth to PETER III the future Emperor of Russia and husband of CATHERINE THE GREAT.
Tsar PETER II ALEKSEYEVICH (1715 – 1730) the last in the direct male line of the Romanov Dynasty. Son of TSAREVICH ALEXEI PETROVICH ROMANOV & Charlotte Christine Sophia of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. Grandson of PETER THE GREAT. Tsar for 3 years. Died at age 15 on the day he was to marry his great love Ekaterina Dolgorukova. He is the only Tsar after Peter I to be buried in the Kremlin.
PETER THE GREAT'S half-brother IVAN V (1666-1696) who ruled jointly with Peter. Ivan was born with physical and mental disabilities so though technically both Tsars had equal authority, Ivan was neither interested or capable of ruling. He did marry and produce 5 daughters before dying at age 30.
Portrait of EMPRESS ELIZABETH, daughter of PETER THE GREAT and CATHERINE I. She was her father's favorite child and very much like him in many ways. In 1741 a coup put her on the Russian throne where she reigned as a very popular monarch.
