Japanese traditional products on Japanese architectures
Old hause by Yasuhiro Sakuda | 500px | Japan architecture, Japanese architecture, Onomichi
Old house, Onomichi, Hiroshima, Japan has traditionally been typified by wooden structures, elevated slightly off the ground, with tiled or thatched roofs. Sliding doors (fusuma) were used in place of walls, allowing the internal configuration of a space to be customized for different occasions. Posts and lintels support a large and gently curved roof.

Japanese house I really want to have some sort of equivalent to the Japanese wrap around porch...only someone would put some chairs on it or something and it would become a cluttered mess because it's so narrow, or access to it is wierd.... I can't figure out how to make it work into my dream house designs. Sigh.
