Photos Of The '70s Country Music Scene
Ralph Stanley at Home, Coeburn, Va., 1974. "As bluegrass heroes go, Ralph Stanley is right up there with Bill Monroe. He began performing with brother Carter as the Stanley Brothers in 1946, and their old-time mountain sound has been hugely influential." Photo by Henry Horenstein.

Alison Krauss' voice is so pure and soft, yet strong. When her voice combines with the musical quality of Union Station, bluegrass music never sounded so good. I also love the fact that the band members do lead vocals. You can also listen to a few performances by them on the soundtrack of "O Brother Where Art Thou" and one song on "Cold Mountain."
