‘Pioneers of Philippine Art’ exhibit draws from various collections
The exhibit “Pioneers of Philippine Art” at Ayala Museum features the works of Filipino masters Juan Luna, Fernando Amorsolo and Fernando Zobel.
The Pahiyas Festival is one of my favorite paintings from one of my favorite contemporary artists, Manuel Baldemor. It captures the Filipino 'sense of space' where all space is occupied with objects, as one might see in a Filipino house, w/c is the way Filipinos also relate with each other -- close connections --a sense of community and multitude. Also, the Filipino sense of vibrant colors as shown in photos of the actual fiesta (see my post "Pahiyas Festival" on this same board).
