I can hardly think of anything better than to start the day with a beautiful sunrise and camera in hand. But dont get me wrong, that doesn’t mean I like waking up for sunrises. Once your out there though, it feels like a fresh breathe of air and the whole world kinda stops.

Capt. Larry Snowden led a company of 230 Marines that landed on the beach of a small Japanese island on Feb. 19, 1945. Five weeks later, when Iwo Jima fell to U.S. forces after one of the bloodiest battles in the Pacific during World War II, his unit’s losses reflected the steep cost of an historic victory.

I've always had an appetite for sandwiches.... This is a two layer sandwich: the Capitol layer is opaqued and lowered in fill. I wanted the Capitol layer to look like the moon fill light that is in the Iwo Jima layer. The Iwo Jima layer is cut to accomodate the Capitol and then layers merged. Sandwich created just for Presidents Day! Happy Presidents day!
