The #Ottawa National #Wildlife #Refuge is located in northwest #Ohio on the shore of #LakeErie. It was established in 1961 to provide habitat for #waterfowl and other migratory #birds, wildlife and endangered and threatened species. The refuge adds to the richness of the community by holding in trust a portion of the natural heritage of the #GreatLakes #ecosystem for the continual benefit of the #American people.
Birding Magee Marsh
Magee Marsh, Northwest Ohio. This site is home every May to The Biggest Week in American Birding, and bills itself as the Warbler Capital of the World. Located on the shore of Lake Erie, it receives an amazing array of birds during migration in spring and fall, and birding remains good in summer and winter.
Marcellus & Utica Shales
Baltimore oriole-- is a small member of the blackbird family. This family probably contains more individuals than any other bird family in Ohio, but includes only a few species. This group of medium-sized, walking birds has very diverse coloration and habits. The bill is long and pointed; the tail is usually rounded.
