This sweet chestnut tree was reputedly planted to commemorate Prince Authur's proxy wedding with Katherine of Aragón  which occurred on Whit Sunday, 19 May 1499 at Tickenhall Manor in Bewdley, Worcestershire. Tickenhall Manor no longer exists but the tree which grew unchecked measures a  girth of 33 feet 8 inches and spreads over a quarter acre. One branch elbow touches the ground 44 feet from the tree base while another branch reaches 77 feet.
